Laura Helbling

Licensed Master Social Worker
Psychotherapist
Hello! I’m Laura : )
Looking for a compassionate, kind, and playful mental health therapist? It could be me!
I received my BA in psychology and my master’s in social work at University of Maryland and hold experience working in schools, hospitals, and outpatient mental health clinics.
I specialize in working with teens and young adults, especially individuals who engage in self-harm, drug use, disordered eating, and those may struggle with aspects of their identity. I am a LGBTQIA+ affirming clinician and hold non-judgmental space for those navigating their gender and sexual identity.
As a clinician, I value connection, compassion, authenticity, and humor (because sometimes we just need to laugh!). When I work with people, I view them through a holistic lens and facilitate a connection between the mind, body, and spirit. I supplement my work with trauma-informed mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), client centered therapy, and inner child work. Overall, I strive to help people be unapologetically themselves and to build compassion for the world around them.
Life can be overwhelming (to say the least), and I believe we were never meant to tackle it alone. So if I bring my expertise as a clinician, and you bring your expertise on yourself, we can work towards building you a rich and meaningful life together.
