Chris Trotman

Licensed Master Social Worker

Psychotherapist

Hi there! I’m Chris Trotman, but you can call me Chris – your friendly neighborhood therapist. Let’s be real, for some, it can be intimidating talking to a total stranger about mental health. I want to thank you for taking that intimidating first step on this path. As a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in both Arizona and Maryland, I’m here to empower and guide you on your healing journey.
With a passion for social work and a deep commitment to helping minorities, individuals with chronic illness, and those struggling with emotional regulation, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and more, I’m dedicated to making a positive impact. They call me a ‘Unicorn’ in the field of behavioral health – a black male therapist, considering my last name, there’s probably a pun in there somewhere.
Living with sickle cell anemia since birth, I intimately understand the challenges that come with chronic illness. My own life journey has been profoundly shaped by the support of a remarkable social worker at the children’s hospital who inspired me to pursue this path.
Having worked with young adults in substance use, worked collaboratively as a behavioral health manager with several primary care providers, and worked providing support to new moms and young babies at the John’s Hopkins Harriet Lane Clinic, I bring a diverse range of experiences to the table.
I completed my undergraduate B.A. in Psychology at UMBC, and I hold a Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. This educational background, combined with my expertise in therapeutic approaches like CBT, DBT, ACT, and more, allows me to tailor our sessions to meet your unique needs.
Let’s embark on a transformative journey together. Book a session with me today and let’s discover the strength and resilience within you!
